I have always wanted to go gold panning. I am 62 and have had three strokes. Going up and down hills could be a problem to me but while I still can get around I like to pan. I am in the Modesto area. Do you have any suggestions for me as to where I might try my hand?

I've visited many gold related web pages, but yours is by far the most entertaining & educational. I am a gold prospector myself and have a 35-acre claim near La Porte, CA on Slate Creek. I've always been fascinated by the history of the area. My wife & I are strictly recreational miners spending 3 to 4 weeks a year on our claim. We don't get rich on the gold we find, but are very wealthy when it comes to the pure enjoyment we get from getting down and dirty. Some of our friends think we're crazy for working so hard for so little. They don't realize that we place more value in the ability to prospect and enjoy nature than the actual gold we find in our dredge. Thank you for your web page and making it so attractive. Keep up the fine work.
